What Fiordland packages does RealNZ sell in 2026?

Three: Fiordland Highlights, Total Fiordland and Iconic Fiordland. Only the first two include the glowworm caves.

RealNZ advertises "savings of up to 20% per experience" and "bundle and save 20% when you book online". The headline prices work out at a bit over 11% off the whole bundle. The numbers suggest the 20% sits on the cruises, with the caves at the full NZ$154: 20% off a NZ$199 Signature Cruise plus NZ$154 gives exactly NZ$313.20.

The rules, from the same page: online bookings only, no custom combinations, no stacking with other offers, and you can put each trip on a different day. RealNZ recommends spreading them out, since travel times rarely allow two in one day.

Is transport included in RealNZ combo deals?

No. RealNZ says transport between experiences is not included, and the Milford Signature Cruise in the package is the self-drive version from the Milford terminal.

This is the part that changes the maths. The caves leave from the Te Anau lakefront, so no problem there. The Milford Sound Signature Cruise starts at Milford, 120 km and about two hours up SH94. RealNZ's own coach and cruise from Te Anau is a different product, listed from NZ$269 with the Classic cruise and NZ$289 with the Signature cruise on Bookme, and it is not one of the package options.

Doubtful Sound is easier. The Wilderness Cruise starts with a boat across Lake Manapouri, 20 minutes' drive from Te Anau, and RealNZ sells a coach from Te Anau or Queenstown on top. If you plan to drive to Milford, read our Milford Road post for this season first.

Is the package cheaper than booking each RealNZ trip separately?

Yes for Fiordland Highlights, by about NZ$20 even against the Milford promo code. For Total Fiordland, it depends on the date of the Doubtful Sound code.

RealNZ's specials page lists a MILFORD10 code for 10% off Milford day cruises and, until recently, DOUBTFUL20 for 20% off the Doubtful Sound Wilderness Cruise. Codes cannot be combined with packages. The Doubtful Sound special is only valid for travel and bookings before 31 October 2026, so it is no help for a summer trip.

From November, on these from-prices, the packages win. Before 31 October the Doubtful code made booking separately about NZ$20 cheaper for the three-trip bundle. Watch the specials page: codes like these come and go through the year.

How does a RealNZ package compare with booking on GetYourGuide?

The caves and the Doubtful Sound day are the same RealNZ trips on GetYourGuide. The Milford options there are other operators' coach days that include transport from Te Anau.

There is only one glowworm cave tour, so the glowworm caves tour on GetYourGuide is RealNZ's tour. Each trip cancels free up to 24 hours before, one by one, which matters on a coast where cruises get called off for weather. Which Fiordland combination should I book?

With a car and two nights, Fiordland Highlights. Without a car, the caves plus a small-group Milford coach day. With three nights, add Doubtful Sound, the quieter fiord.

• Self-drive, two nights: Fiordland Highlights. Drive to Milford early on day two, then take the caves on an evening.
• No car, two nights: a small-group coach day such as the Milford day with walks, plus the caves on your arrival evening.
• Three nights, any transport: add Doubtful Sound. Total Fiordland if you drive; separate bookings if you want the RealNZ coach to Manapouri included without fuss.
• One night only: skip the bundle. Do the caves on the evening and one fiord the next day.

What are the cancellation rules on Fiordland combo deals?

Day trips in a package follow RealNZ's 24-hour rule. The overnight cruises in Iconic Fiordland need 14 days' notice, with amendments up to five days out.

The package page says amendments or refunds on most included trips need notice at least 24 hours before departure, NZ time. The Doubtful Sound Overnight Cruise is the exception: no refunds within 14 days of travel. RealNZ also keeps the right to change timetables and cancel departures, which on the fiords usually means weather.

Book the fiord early in your stay and the caves on another day. If Milford gets called off, you have room to move it, and the cave trip runs whatever the weather.
